Compliance Sheriff Selenium Error - "No Such Driver"

« Go Back
Compliance Sheriff Selenium Error -- "No Such Driver"
Reference -- Compliance Sheriff 4.2.x-Compliance Sheriff 4.3, Internet Explorer 11

Issue -- When attempting to run scans within Compliance Sheriff that include Selenium transaction scripts, the scans abort with error message "No Such Driver".

Cause -- The Selenium web driver that Compliance Sheriff uses to run Selenium transaction scripts cannot start as expected. There are a few settings that need to be implemented on the Compliance Sheriff "Worker" Server in order to successfully run transaction scripts.

Solution --
1. Ensure that "IE Enhanced Security" (IE ESC) is OFF for both Users and Administrators on the Worker server.
Server Manager --> "Configure IE ESC"

2. Ensure that "Active Scripting" is set to "Enable" for both the "Internet" and "Intranet" zones in IE.
Open IE --> Tools --> Options --> Security --> select zone --> Custom Level --> locate "Active Scripting"

3. Protected Mode must be Off for all zones for the service account. two different ways to approach this. You can log into the worker server as the service account, and uncheck "Enable protected Mode", or use regedit to edit the registry by performing the following:

Start --> Run --> Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones

You should see 5 zones, labeled 0-4. Check each of these keys for a DWORD value of 2500. Make sure the DWORD value is set to "3" for all of these folders (0-4). Note -- (3 = "off") for this key.

Once the above settings have been applied, open Task Manager --> Processes, and make sure that all IE processes have been closed. (Or reboot the server) and test again.

*Note -- You may need to repeat this process for HKLM\
\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones if the above doesnt work first.

** FOR Internet Explorer 11 on the Server **
If you are running IE 11 on your Compliance Sheriff worker server, you may need to apply a specific registry key to your server in order to be compatible with this version of IE:

For 64-bit Windows installations, the key is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BFCACHE. Please note that the FEATURE_BFCACHE subkey may or may not be present, and should be created if it is not present.

Inside this key, create a DWORD value named iexplore.exe with the value of "0" (zero).
