I want to move my SEP Server to another server

Note:
The latest versions of the software can be found here:
http://www.cryptzone.com/downloadcenter/sep-enterprise

Please backup your SQL db prior to follow any of the steps below.

Solution 1 (same name of the server)
If you are keeping the same name of your server follow these steps:

For Secured eMail users only
Before you move the SEP Server please export the old certificate for your public address:
1. Open the SEP MC -> Configuration -> Server -> Server Certificate
2. Export certificate

Here are the steps to move the SEP Server
1. Stop the old SEP Server
2. Install the SEP Server to the new server
3. Install the SEP MC to the new server
4. Install the SEP Client Distribution Package to the new server
5. Start the SEP MC and connect to the SQL server (make sure the account running the SEP Server service has db_owner permissions to the Cryptzone database)
6. Create a new SEP Client from SEP MC -> Tools -> Create Installer
Make sure your SEP Server addresses are correct (i.e the public server address)
7. In the SEP MC make sure the SMTP settings and the Exchange connections settings are working*
8. Import the old certificate Open the SEP MC -> Configuration -> Server -> Server Certificate -> Import Certificate*
9. Restart the SEP Server service (either from services.msc or by stop and start the SEP Server monitor)
10. Done
*For Secured eMail users only

Solution 2 (the server will change name)
Since you are changing the internal hostname the SEP Clients needs to be aware of the new server name.
There are two ways you can update this, you either add the new server name now to your policy and when you are sure all your SEP Clients are updated you can do the update.

To update the policy go to:
SEP MC -> Policy (mark your default policy) -> Editor -> SEP Settings -> Other -> SEP Server URLs. Add the old internal address, the new internal address and the public URL.

The SEP Clients will be updated when users are signing in to the SEP Client (you can check if a client has been updated in the SEP MC -> Enterprise Manager -> All Users -> Last Client Sync
You can also do the upgrade and then create a new SEP Client with the new SEP Server address SEP MC -> Tools -> Create Installer. Once all SEP Clients are upgraded they will have the new SEP Server address.
It is not possible to push out a policy to the SEP Clients.

For Secured eMail users only
Before you move the SEP Server please export the old certificate for your public address:
1. Open the SEP MC -> Configuration -> Server -> Server Certificate
2. Export certificate

For Secured eUSB users only
Since your old encrypted USB devices are connecting to your old server name you have to re-encrypt them in order for them to get the new server address. This should be done after the SEP Client has been updated with the new SEP Server address.

Here are the steps to move the SEP Server
1. Stop the old SEP Server
2. Install the SEP Server to the new server
3. Install the SEP MC to the new server
4. Install the SEP Client Distribution Package to the new server
5. Start the SEP MC and connect to the new SQL server (make sure the account running the SEP Server service has db_owner permissions to the Cryptzone database)
6. Once in the SEP MC make sure the SMTP settings and the Exchange connections settings are working*
7. Import the old certificate Open the SEP MC -> Configuration -> Server -> Server Certificate -> Import Certificate*
8. Create a new SEP Client from SEP MC -> Tools -> Create Installer
Make sure your SEP Server addresses are correct (i.e the public server address)
This SEP Client now contains the correct addresses to the SEP Server and can thus be installed on new client and/or be used to upgrade existing SEP Client that points to the old server.
9. Restart the SEP Server service (either from services.msc or by stop and start the SEP Server monitor)
10. Done
*For Secured eMail users only
