Result Viewer in Cryptzone Security Sheriff
Cannot view results: maximum message size quota for incoming messages has been exceeded.
This error is received when there are more results present in the report than can be retrieved when the MaxReceivedMessageSize is at its default value of 51200000 bytes, effectively causing the connection to timeout. This error can be remediated by modifying the MaxReceivedMessageSize property in the HiSoftware ‘Clients.config’ and ‘web.config’ files.
To resolve this error, log on to the server(s) hosting the Security Sheriff Policy Sites and navigate to:C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\WebService\HiSoftware
and locate the ‘web.config’ file. Edit this file in your preferred text editor and search for “ProteusServiceHttpBinding”. Modify the MaxReceivedMessageSize to 2 gigabytes.<bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="ProteusServiceHttpBinding" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147482549">To change the value at the second location, navigate to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\WebClients\HiSoftware and locate the ‘clients.config’ file. Edit this file in your preferred text editor and search for “ProteusHttpBinding”. Modify the
MaxReceivedMessageSize to 2 gigabytes. <customBinding>
</binding> As a note, this article is specifying the change to 2 gigabytes. Depending on the amount of results you have in your environment, this value may need to be increased further.
