What are the principle behind security roles in SEP

Article Number000001162

The SEP Security Roles can at first seem complex, and hard to manage. There is however a simple pattern of thoughts that can be applied in the process of deciphering the mechanisms on how the Security Roles system works;

• A Security Role defines WHAT a user should be able to do, and WHERE this should be possible.
• The Security role is once defined, assign to the user WHO should be able to do it.

Example of WHAT ; The role state that it allows Sharepoint eCollaboration Site Management.

Example of WHERE; The role targets a specific sharepoint site.

Example of WHO; The role is applied to Anders.Hansson.
